CELSUZY
FODDER PLANTS / A HYBRID OF BICOLOR SORGHUM AND SORGHUM
Sorghum bicolor / Sorghum sudanense L.
A mid-early, high-green mass-producing and drought-tolerant bicolor sorghum-sudangrass hybrid for forage production
A rapidly developing and intensively shoot growing plant
Green mass yield - 65-90 t/ha
Dry matter yield - 20-25 t/ha
Plants about 2-2.6 m high
Stems are stable
Very leafy
Excellent leaf/stem ratio (9/10)
Grows in 72-75 days. from germination
With intensive cultivation, 2-3 harvests are possible
Very drought tolerant in summer (July - August)
The sugar content of the harvested mass is 15-16%
Can be grown in all types of soil
Used for haying, grazing, green fodder, silage
Before sowing, take good care of the soil preparation
Sow in soil warmed to a minimum of 12°C, i.e., about 15 days after corn sowing
It can also be sown in summer as intermediate crops.
Fertilization depends on yield potential and soil availability, about 70-80 kg/ha N at sowing or at 3-4 leaves and 30-40 kg/ha after each harvest
Under different growing conditions than those found in these studies, cultivar parameters may differ from those given here.
SOWING RATE
Recommended seeding rate for biomass production: 45-55 plants/m², would be 15 kg/ha, row spacing 25-30 cm
Recommended seeding rate when grown as a catch crop for N fixation: 90-110 plants/m², would be 30 kg/ha
