These are plants of the bastaceae family, which have wide application possibilities in the fodder production, food, biofuel and bio-oil industries. The summer form of the sowers is offered.
Plants grow 60-90 cm tall, have side stems. Flowers - yellow, inflorescences - bunches, 8-16 seeds in a pod. The weight of 1000 seeds are 1.3 g. Plants of this type are undemanding to soil and climatic conditions, and are not sensitive to spring frosts. The stem of the plant is strong enough, so the crop does not lie down. Sowing sedges can be used as support plants in pea and pea crops, as they prevent the plants from lying on the soil surface throughout the growing season. As a rule, the seeds of mullein ripen a little earlier than those of peas or mice, but they almost do not fall and there is no yield loss.
Seed yield potential -1.2-2.6 t/ha. The seeds contain 42-44% oil, which is rich in beneficial unsaturated fatty acids. Jodru oil can be used for food, in the cosmetics industry, as well as for the production of environmentally friendly polymers, varnishes and paints. The by-product of oil production is pomace, which, depending on the way the oil is pressed, contains between 8.5 and 16.4% fat. The amount of glucosinates in the pomace does not exceed the permissible limits. According to the composition of the protein acids methionine, cystine and threonine, the value of the meal is equal to soybean meal, but the content of lysine is much lower. Straw can be used as fodder for sheep.
The vegetation period of the summer sowings is 65-90 days. Judra is not demanding on the soil. It grows well in black soil, light sandy soils. Heavy clay soils are not very suitable. The soil for sowing must be prepared very well so that there is good contact between the soil and the seed. The depth of seeding should not exceed 3 cm, so the soil should be tilled as shallow as possible before sowing. Seeds germinate at 1°C. Sprouted plants withstand spring frosts down to -10 °C. Plants are not very sensitive to drought during the growing season.
Under different growing conditions than those found in these studies, cultivar parameters may differ from those given here.
SOWING RATE
Recommended sowing rate: 6-12 kg/ha, optimal depth - 0.5-1.5 cm
