Developed by: Delley Samen und Pflanzen AG, Switzerland
An exceptional sought-after variety grown on biodynamic, organic farms throughout Europe, highly valued in Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland
A very tall spelled wheat variety with excellent winter hardiness and good baking properties, especially suitable for organic farms
One of the oldest and best spelled varieties in Europe
Top quality traditional old spelled variety
Excellent grain quality, very high hardness index, protein and gluten content
The number of grain falls (Hagberg), according to Hungarian research, reaches 350-450
The weight of 1000 grains vary between 80-105 g
Tolerance - cold resistance tests showed 61% arctic cold resistance. Cold tolerance - resistance test results reaching 40-50% for wheat indicate the reliability of the variety for growing in our climate zone.
Extremely good adaptation to different habitats, low demand for soil and environmental conditions
High sensitivity to excess nitrogen, due to the high height of the plant reaching 140-150 cm, it has a propensity for lodging, exclusively recommended for organic farms

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Spelled is threshed and sown unhusked, with scales!
Each floret contains two grains
The florets protect the grain from diseases and pests
Early sowing is not recommended in areas with long growth/long growing season in autumn, as spelled produces many shoots in these conditions, which weakens the stem and resistance to fungal diseases.
It is recommended to grow in various types of soils, including intensive farming or fertile fields.

SOWING RATE
Recommended sowing rate for early sowing (mid-September): 180-200 kg of seed, or 200-250 sprouted grains/m².
Recommended sowing rate for late sowing (beginning of October): 200-220 kg of seed, or 250-300 sprouted grains/m².
Sowing depth: 4-5 cm. Germination requires more water than common wheat (Triticum aestivum) seeds to germinate.
